One of the goals that I've made for myself cooking-wise is to try at least one new dish a week. I've fallen into something of a routine with our dishes, and through I've been making the effort to try new dishes every once and a while, I've been finding that I've been forgetting about dishes that I have found when looking for something new. I went through five of my cookbooks (Better Home and Gardens Cookbook, Cooking: A commonsense guide, 300 Best Comfort Foods, and both of Ted Allen's cookbooks), and made little lists of recipes to try for each one. I've been doing a pretty good job of making my way through the various lists, and have made some pretty good discoveries so far. A recent big hit is the chili-mac skillet that was made this past week. Hubby REALLY liked that one, and thinks I'll be making it several times in the future. The lists also include a couple of my life list food goals: making fried chicken and making pasta. For now, I'll just slowly make my way through the recipes, with the occasional new Food Network weekday.
Here's the meal plan for the week. One brand new recipe from Ted Allen, the rest are oldies. Enjoy the week and happy cooking all!
